We can't help without knowing how the build failed.

Re: Installing Image Magic on the IBMi AS400

Let's see if ImageMagick builds out-of-the-box. Try these commands:

Code: Select all

curl -O https://www.imagemagick.org/download/ImageMagick.tar.gz
tar xvf ImageMagick.tar.gz
cd ImageMagick-7.0.8-9
./configure
make
sudo make install
/usr/local/bin/magick --version
/usr/local/bin/magick logo: logo.gif

Fixed in the current beta. Will export the beta, likely this weekend.

Re: bug converting png to bmp (results in broken images)

The conversion appears to be working properly. It creates a BMP v4 image. Some viewers may not properly handle BMP v4 images. We did check with a few BMP viewers and half of them returned expected results and half failed and returned a black image.

Re: Problem reading memory register "mpr:test[0,0,0,0]"...

Thanks for the problem report. We can reproduce it and will have a patch to fix it in GIT master branch @ https://github.com/ImageMagick/ImageMagick later today. The patch will be available in the beta releases of ImageMagick @ https://www.imagemagick.org/download/beta/ by sometime tomorrow.

Re: How do I Apply Multiple Screen and Multiply to one image?

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_compositing. Associated alpha is premultiplied alpha and the alpha channel is then removed. Disassociated alpha extracts the alpha from the premultiplied channels and restores the alpha channel.

Agreed. Try upgrading to the latest release. If that fails, let us know and we will investigate further.

Re: resurrecting gigapixel image from 256px jpgs - "unable to open pixel cache" and "too many files open"

You are not running the latest release of ImageMagick. Type

Code: Select all

magick --version
It should report version 7.0.8-8. If not, upgrade your release of ImageMagick and try your command again.

Re: DestroyMagickWand() assertion fails, application dumps core

Parallel algorithm issues are notoriously difficult to debug. The only hope of addressing this issue would be if we can reproduce the problem.

To determine the source of problem and propose a fix, we must first reproduce the problem. Post a URL to your image so we can download it. We'll report back why the exception is thrown and whether we can add a patch to fix the problem.

Re: resurrecting gigapixel image from 256px jpgs - "unable to open pixel cache" and "too many files open"

Your command works without complaint for us. We're using ImageMagick 6.8.10-8, the current release. We saved all the image file names to a file "filelist" to reduce the command line arguments size, then ran this command: $ montage -define registry:temporary-path=/data/tmp -limit memory 16mb -verbose...
