Re: magick translate PAM to PNG ignores compression option

I had to change the PNG color type to 4 for Grayscale - Alpha: timeit magick pf-269362.red.sin0.5_1.03.pam -define png:compression-level=0 -define png:compression-filter=0 -define png:color-type=4 pf-269362.red.sin0.5_1.03.im.png TI: Elapsed time = 4.183 sec The size is right and the channels are ri...

Re: magick translate PAM to PNG ignores compression option

Time and data quality are both important. If you don't lose any data, time does not matter? I don't follow your logic. It takes 13 seconds to compress a 145MB PAM to PNG. And, I have hundreds to do per job, thousands per day some days. Writing a PAM file takes 122ms: WBHB: Wrote 145.317167MB (79 + 1...

magick translate PAM to PNG ignores compression option

magick appears to apply compression to .PNG files even when told not to: https://imagemagick.org/script/command-line-options.php#compress Use pixel compression specified by type when writing the image. Specify +compress to store the binary image in an uncompressed format. -compress type ; Choices ar...

Re: Merging 2+ PAM GRAYSCALE_ALPHA images

<< command syntax is v6 for "convert" or v7 for "magick". The old argv[0] peek trick! When is a ln not a ln? Slick! I found this on the web (sorry didn't annotate location) C is Color (gray value) and O is Opacity, both in range [0 .. 65535] Semi-transparent pixels 1 and 2 are merged to form pixel 3...

Re: Merging 2+ PAM GRAYSCALE_ALPHA images

Convert is linked to magick on my system. The "-type grayscalealpha" did give the right format, 16 bits of Gray and 16 bits of Opacity. Getting rid if the "-compose CopyOpacity " computes the opacity fall-through correctly. /usr/local/bin/magick -verbose pf-269369.red.half.opac.pam pf-269369.red.hal...

Merging 2+ PAM GRAYSCALE_ALPHA images

I am trying to merge 2 PAM, P7 grayscale/alpha images (TUPLTYPE GRAYSCALE_ALPHA, uint16[2] ->uint32_t per pixel). The result comes out in "TUPLTYPE RGB_ALPHA". convert pf-269361.red.sp0.5.m1.16.pam pf-269369.red.sp0.5.m1.16.pam -compose CopyOpacity -composite pf-269361_9.red.sp0.5.m1.16.im.pam head ...
