Re: Confused about median

The virtual pixel setting is used to extend the image at the borders, so that the edge pixels have values next to them so that each edge pixel can be in the center of a neighborhood. See, for example, https://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/courses/compsci373s1c/PatricesLectures/Image%20Filtering_2up.pdf for ...

Re: Confused about median

It replaces only the center pixel in each 3x3 neighborhood with its median. So when the command finishes, every pixel will have been replace by the median in its 3x3 region surrounding that pixel. This is the way most regional statistics operators work. For the mean, each pixel will be replaced by t...

Re: Converting Photoshop PDF with Transparency

I played with your file in Photoshop CC 2018. If I save it again and turn off "Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities" in the PDF Save dialog box, then it seems to work fine when I convert to PNG using Ghostscript 9.24.

Re: Confused about median

With even dimensions, I do not thing there will be any averaging done for the middle two. IM probably takes either the first or the second of the two middle values. Looks like from your tests, it takes the second. Try with odd number of values and see what happens. Only the middle value is replaced ...

You can use some other RGB profile it that makes it better such as AdobeRGB.icc.

Re: convert unable to read font

If you don't specify a font what one is used by default? I think it relies on the system default font, but am not 100% sure of that. In the font family documentation https://imagemagick.org/script/command-line-options.php#family it seems to say it is Arial. But that only works if you have arial on ...

Re: Unwanted gaps between combined PNG images

It has been this way since IM 6 first started. But IM 6 is forgiving. IM 7 is not. See https://imagemagick.org/Usage/basics/#why

You can do most everything. The operations are not format dependent for the most part.

Re: Unwanted gaps between combined PNG images

By the way, the order of the options in the code does not seem to matter in my case.
It would in ImageMagick 7.

Re: Unwanted gaps between combined PNG images

First your syntax is not proper, but likely will work on IM 6, since it is more forgiving. Proper syntax for raster images is to read the images first, then settings, then operators, then the output. Second, your PNG images have some transparent white around the edges, which is what causes the black...

Re: Unwanted gaps between combined PNG images

Snibgo is correct. We need your starting files and commands to get to PNGs or JPEGs. So the PNGs will not be needed. Post the EPS files say on dropbox.com and put the URLs here or zip all the EPS files and post it and the put that URL here.

Re: Unwanted gaps between combined PNG images

Please post your PNG file so we can test to see what is the problem. You can use dropbox.com, which will not change them to JPG and then post the URLs. Or just zip your file and then post the URL of the zip file.

Re: Get coordinates Top, Left, size of some areas

It does not look much different. Did you try to extract the colored boxes from your input.png? If that does not work, then you could make a color table image containing only the main colors in your image. The do -remap to ensure that only those colors are in the resulting image. Then do CCL on the c...

Re: Get coordinates Top, Left, size of some areas

That is tough since I see no way to distinguish between the top red box and the one just below it. They are the same color. I think you will have to flood fill just the ones you want to keep or remove. See -fill newcolor -fuzz XX% -draw "color x,y floodfill". Perhaps flood fill all the boxes you wan...
