Converting Between Color Profiles In ImageMagick Results in Different Colors Than GIMP

Post by zian »

I noticed that if I take an image that is assigned to a particular profile (let's call it A) and convert to sRGB, GIMP results in different colors than ImageMagick. In both applications, I specified a "Relative Colorimetric" intent and black compensation.

Example Command:
magick -quiet "Fixed Up 2.tif" -intent Relative -profile "C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\Color\sRGB Color Space Profile.icm" "Fixed Up 2 with sRGB.tif"

I tried using the built in GIMP ICC file to no avail.

What else should I examine before treating this as a bug in ImageMagick?

Does your input Image have a color profile attached to it? If not, then you need two color profiles. The first to tell ImageMagick what it is for the input and the second to tell ImageMagick what it should change it to. See https://imagemagick.org/Usage/formats/#profiles

How different are they? What is the RMSE difference? What version of Gimp?

Bugs need to be reproducible. Please link to your input file and output files.
