Reducing image to specified number of colors taken from map

Questions and postings pertaining to the usage of ImageMagick regardless of the interface. This includes the command-line utilities, as well as the C and C++ APIs. Usage questions are like "How do I use ImageMagick to create drop shadows?".

The only way to accomplish want you want is to create a map image with only 80 entries and use the -map option.

NOTE: GIF images have a 256 color limit of only Q8 colors, and can make ONE of those the fully transparent color.
