Your command,
  • convert mulitple.tif single%d.tif
should work the same in Linux as in Windows. It does for us. Make sure your Linux version of TIFF includes support for TIFF. Type
  • identify -list format
and make sure TIFF is listed with a mode of rw-.

Apologies. rw+ is the correct mode for TIFF.
