We could always put an option in the configure script to enable the SSE2 instruction set at build time. Post your patch here and we will investigate making it part of the official ImageMagick distribution. Also post a URL to one of your images and the command line you used. We will need to reproduce the bottleneck before we can apply a proper patch.
