It was considered a security risk and removed. There were exploits in the wild that used this coder for nefarious purposes. As you likely know, we've spent the last year tightening security of ImageMagick. Can you present a use case for ephemeral? Perhaps we could write the coder again to satisfy your use case but written securely to prevent exploits.

If enough people really want this, one suggestion might be for the developers to add a new entry to the policy.xml file for ephemeral in future releases. Personally I have never used it. So speak up if you feel this is really important to you.
