no decode delegate for this image format "..blah.tiff"

Post by wealthychef »

Help! :-) Thanks. This is with ImageMagick 6.3.4 running on AIX 5. I don't know how to troubleshoot this problem. Looks like something is hosed about the installation results.

========================================================
Hi, on my AIX machine, I get the following error:

cook@up041 (ImageMagick): 6.3.4/aix_5_64_fed/bin/display ~/dataAndImages/test.tiff
display: no decode delegate for this image format `/g/g0/rcook/dataAndImages/test.tiff'.
display: unable to open image `logo:': No such file or directory.

========================================================
Same for convert:

rcook@up041 (ImageMagick): 6.3.4/aix_5_64_fed/bin/convert ~/dataAndImages/test.tiff test.png
convert: no decode delegate for this image format `/g/g0/rcook/dataAndImages/test.tiff'.
convert: missing an image filename `test.png'.

========================================================
But it looks like it should work, since there is a tiff entry in delegates.

rcook@up041 (ImageMagick): 6.3.4/aix_5_64_fed/bin/convert -list configure

Do you have libtiff installed?

Check the output of configure when installing IM - this will tell you whether or not libtiff was found. If not, then you need to install it and then reconfigure/build/install IM.

I sure do. If you look closely at the output of the LIBS variable in the .la file, you can see that ImageMagick put -ltiff there, and the DELEGATES variable includes "tiff." I checked config.log and it seemed to find tiff ok with all tests passed.

Here is some select output from the configure script:

Probably a different environement or environment variables. Especuilly librarys involved with decoding and encoding specific file formats.
