I tried your example above and I get the same error. I deleted my initial installation and reinstalled imagemajick. Still the same error. I'm running Windows 7, 32bit with ImageMagick-7.0.5-4-Q16-x86-static - installed binary. So I'm pretty sure it's compatible.
