Windows installation directory

Post by snibgo »

When installing on Windows, IM used to ask for the directory to install to, with the default being the previous installation.

Installing v7.0.1-3 just now, I had no opportunity to tell it where to install.

This might be something we changed in the IM6 branch but forgot in the IM7 one. Will take a look at it tomorrow.

I just did a quick check with the 7.0.1-3 installer and it allowed me to select a 'Destination Location'. I don't understand why you don't get the when you run our setup progam.

Installing the pre-built v7.0.1-4 Windows binary, an "Information" box says I will be asked:

Code: Select all

Select Destination Location

Confirm or if required change the drive and path for ImageMagick. At the bottom of the dialog you will see the space requirement. The default installation path is "C:\Program Files\ImageMagick-version" where version is the current version number. Click "Next >" to continue.

Select Start Menu Folder

Confirm or if required change the folder where you would like ImageMagick's shortcuts. Click "Next >" to continue.
But it doesn't ask for either of these, instead going straight on to "Select Additional Tasks".

Hi, I got the same issue.

I tried versions ImageMagick-7.0.8-7-Q16-x64-dll.exe and ImageMagick-7.0.8-7-Q16-x64-static.exe. My machine is Windows 10. Is this ImageMagick's or Windows' fault?

Thanks,
Vicky

I don't know where the fault lies. Sometimes the installation asks for the directory, and sometimes it doesn't. I don't install often enough to isolate what factors cause the problem.
