generated pdf with non-ascii name does not show correct title

Post by votsalo »

Version: ImageMagick 6.8.9-9 Q16 x86_64 2019-11-12

I use imagemagick to convert one or more jpg images to a PDF file that has a non-ascii filename. For example, on Ubuntu 16.04:

convert a.png Δ.pdf

When I open the resulting Δ.pdf with evince or qpdfview, the window title bar displays strange characters instead of "Δ". It is as if convert saves the title of the document in a different encoding than expected by pdf.

Is it possible to fix the title?

When I save a file Δ.pdf with libreoffice writer, it has the correct title, "Δ".

Thanks for the problem report. We can reproduce it and will have a patch to fix it in GIT master branch @ https://github.com/ImageMagick/ImageMagick later today. The patch will be available in the beta releases of ImageMagick @ https://www.imagemagick.org/download/beta/ by sometime tomorrow.
