6.8.9-1 does not have prebuilt Q8 x86 version

Post by graemeNPS »

We typically build an IM version in dynamic linkmode, and then use the IM installer to get all the necessary dlls in the right place.
When I downloaded the latest, I noticed there was not an Q8 x86 windows version linked on the binary releases page:
http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binar ... hp#windows

Version HTTP FTP Description
ImageMagick-6.8.9-1-Q16-x64-static.exe
ImageMagick-6.8.9-1-Q8-x64-dll.exe
ImageMagick-6.8.9-1-Q8-x64-static.exe
ImageMagick-6.8.9-1-Q16-x86-dll.exe
ImageMagick-6.8.9-1-Q16-x86-static.exe
ImageMagick-6.8.9-1-Q16-x86-windows.zip

We prefer to use Q8 version, and are waiting for a fix that will appear in 6.8.9-2 in response to this topic in Bugs:
PSD files do not process in IM

Will there be a Q8 x86 version of 6.8.9-2?

We have no plans to continue to support the x86 Q8 versions of ImageMagick under Windows. You of course can build x86 Q8 versions of ImageMagick yourself from the source distribution.

Thanks. The prebuilt version was very convenient.
Any idea when you will release 6.8.9-2? It has a fix for PSD that one of customers is anxious for.

Generally we shoot for a month or two between each release. You can try Contact the Wizards option on the ImageMagick web pages if you want a custom build (such as x86 Q8), its not free however.
